Mandy is looking forward to a fun filled summer as a new member of the WaterWise Boat Safety Team member. Her passion for the water is reflected through work in the marine industry over the last four years while living on the Shuswap Lake in beautiful British Columbia’s interior. An avid outdoor enthusiast she enjoys hiking, flat water paddling, wakeboard and waterskiing in her free time. Mandy really understands the importance of giving back to the local community and spends much of her time volunteering with local sporting teams, paddling clubs, search and rescue, and animal refuges. With the hopes of continuing a career in the marine industry she is finishing her degree in Tourism Management at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. She is excited to share her passion for boating this summer as a WaterWise Boat Team member.
Byron is looking forward to bringing his boating and water experience to the WaterWise Boat Team.He has recently moved back to Vancouver after completing his Honors in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario. Byron was drawn back to Vancouver with his passion for being outside. From being able to hike, run, ski, golf or be on the water, Byron loves being active. He grew up spending his summers on his family’s sailboat and enjoying other water activities. Byron has years of hands on experiences and training in first aid, lifeguarding, and learn to swim programs. Byron believes water activities can be an easy and fun escape but the proper training and equipment is necessary. He is looking forward to travelling the province informing people about safe boating activities while exploring new lakes and areas of BC he has never seen before.
Christine is excited to join the WaterWise Boat Safety Team for the last month of the summer. Growing up in the Lower Mainland raised in a family with three lifeguards, she has continually been swimming and boating from a very young age. Christine has an undying love for the outdoors and new experiences. In her travels, she has done extreme water sports such as scuba diving in Australia and Indonesia, and rafting the Nile River in Uganda. Her completion of swimming lessons and lifesaving courses (Bronze medallion and Bronze Cross) has contributed to her water and safety knowledge.
