TheLifesaving Society BC & Yukon Branch is the lead agency for the WaterWise Team. The Society governs the Team and provides invaluable resources for them throughout the busy boating season. The Team works hand-in-hand with the Society to help educate the public while trying to reduce the number of boating fatalities from occurring across the province.
In efforts to communicate the message of fun and safe boating as part of the national Discover Boating Campaign, the BC Marine Trades Association is providing financial support to the Team, as well as the WaterWise school program, and have kindly donated product and supplies to the 2008 WaterWise Team.
Mustang Survival Corp. has helped the Team promote the importance of wearing an approved and properly-sized lifejacket or personal floatation device while boating. Mustang has generously donated numerous lifejackets to the Team to give away to boaters who are being safe on the water.
BoatGuide Magazine generously donated 5,000 of their magazine publications for the Team to distribute in the boat safety kits.
Campion Boats has donated the use of a 2009 Campion Allante 545i boat. The boat receives significant exposure throughout B.C., as the Team utilizes it when performing on-water courtesy visits and safety checks with boater’s.
Barrett Marketing Group Ltd. provided the Team with one of their custom EZ Loader boat trailers, in which the Team would transport their Campion boat to events throughout the season.
Georgia Straight Alliance In addition to providing several hundred “Guides to green Boating”, Georgia Strait Alliance supplied the Team with 200 bilge pads to distribute to boaters. These handy items absorb oil, fuel and other petroleum distillates without absorbing water.
North Water Paddle SportsEquipmenthelped supply the Team with some of the necessary safety equipment to have on board their vessel. The Team used throw bags provided by North Water for interactive demonstrations, as well as for contest give-aways.
SunCruiser Magazinehas generously donated 3,500 of their regional magazine publications (West Coast, Shuswap, and Okanagan) for the Team to distribute in this year's boat safety kits.
Transport Canada’s Office of Safe Boating has generously donated 2,000 Safe Boating Guides to be included in this year's boat safety kits. These guides explain necessary rules, regulations, guidelines, and safety tips for boaters. Other donations include children’s activity books such as ‘Pukta’ and ‘Bobbie’ colouring books, which the Team hands out during school presentation and event. Burrard Civic Marina generously donated space for the storage of the Team’s 2009 Campion Allante 545i boat.
