WaterWise Team Update
April 2010
The anticipated days of summer are just around the corner and that means good times with friends and family outside enjoying the warm sunny days on the water. If you’re a boater, you may have already started to daydream about feeling that ocean breeze on your face, the lapping water against the boat-side and safely cruising along with friends to your secret destination.
This summer will be the 11th season for the WaterWise Boat Safety Team as they promote boat and water safety to children, youth and adults throughout British Columbia.
The WaterWise Team will be traveling the province, visiting schools and youth groups delivering the WaterWise Wisdom program. This program educates the children, increases water safety awareness and assists with reducing the number and severity of water related incidents in the province. You can help too, by following simple safety steps at the beginning of boating season, before each outing and throughout the summer. Before heading out on that first boat excursion this season don’t forget to get your boat sea worthy, ensure all safety equipment is on board and that there are enough properly fitting lifejackets for your crew.
If you’re interested in booking one of the fun, interactive WaterWise Wisdom presentations you can contact the Sandra Ferguson, Communications Coordinator at the Lifesaving Society at 604-299-5450 or sandraf@lifesaving.bc.ca
Safe boating everyone!
